Storm Electromagnetic Measuring Equipment
category Detection / Prevention
The system detects electromagnetic activity generated by storm clouds. It registers lightning discharges in a radius of 10 to 15 km from its antenna. The unit comes in two models : « office size », on a stand, providing information for the risk decision making process ; and « industrial application », installed as part of the electricity control panel with an automatic power disconnector.

Over the life of a thunderstorm, lightning that lights up the sky behaves like a radio antenna, generating electromagnetic waves that spread out in all directions; these radiated electromagnetic waves, which have their own specific characteristics, are picked up by the detector's antenna; this antenna, made of an iron frame complete with a coil winding, transmits the received signals to a detection circuit which, after analysis, delivers the information "storm detected"; this information appears visually, and by polarity becomes visible on a connecting pin; in addition to this information, a galvanometer allows real-time visualization of the thunderstorm activity generated by the lightning.
This device functions with a continuous supply of 12 Volts, as in the "office size", by means of a power supply provided with the device.
